My own thoughts would have to be, if this is a perfectly normal QSA and there is nothing else we cannot see, based on the photographs, the medal is the original and not the duplicate, I think it is possibly also renamed, a great many were, in particular, those late issues, I would be quite pleased with it if I were you.

Yes, it is, from it's inception, members of this corps wore their original badges from their particular regiments within the Cape Volunteers, but, very soon, a couple of jewellers in the colony received commissions for badges to distinguish them apart, the result being their "horse" badge in brass and as here, in silver and their usual "MH" silver badge.
Thank you for the pm, which I have only just noticed, I seldom use this function, I originally collected all the SAMIF stuff as a school boy, but, I'm afraid I do not sell things on line and very seldom at all.
