Sorry David, I have not come across any other publications or even half decent printed works on the TG's and DMT's.

I dont have a copy of the South African edition of Creswicke so wont be able to help you there. I wonder if Brett has anything?

Is this book that you mention entitled "The Town Guards of Cape Town" or the likes?

I have this small almost pocket size booklet which is very informative and was purchased at the Castle in Cape Town.I think if you do not have a copy it would be a great help to you.

Regards

Adrian

Good Morning Adrian......

Are copies of that book still available? Where can a person find one?

Thanks

Good Afternoon Mike,

I am sure that there are copies still available. I am in Durban now so unable to pop down to the Castle. However, if you contact Natie Greef who is the Museum Curator I am sure he will oblige.

His contact details are: [email protected]
+27 21 7871153 direct number for Natie

Mike, if for some reason the email does not work let me know.

Funny Natie's name comes up.. he has been doing a project for a number of years to produce a roll for TGs and DMTs. From what I know he has completed the roll of names.

Not sure when it is going to be published but finding out may save duplication of effort.

Hi David,

I came across this SAMHS article on Graaff-Reinet during the ABW which has a little on the TG.

One of my great grandfather's served in this TG before later serving in the Cradock TG.

Cheers,

Mark

Hello Meurig,

Natie has been working on this project for a while. Last time I spoke to him he was desperatly looking for pictures of men to any of the Natal based TG's and Rifle Associations.

Wonder how he got on?
