Umzimkulu was an area in the eastern Cape. During the Boer War, it furnished a small force of men who turned out ready to defend the town if necessary.

The QSA roll is signed by Fred Hayward and notes "they were actually called out for active military duty against the enemy but they they did not actually engage the enemy whilst serving in this Corps".
