The Geoghegan's Scouts were raised for service with General Settle's column.

The approved establishment for the unit was 1 Captain, 2 Lieutenants, 1 Sergeant major, 1 Quartermaster Sergeant, 4 Sergeants and 100 scouts.

The authority to raise the unit was given on 4 Jun 1901.  They were disbanded on 19 Feb 1902.
