New Hanover is situated in Natal, approximately 20 miles north of Pietermaritzburg.

All members of the New Hanover Rifle Association received the QSA with no clasp. The medal roll shows that the column for the Natal clasp was ticked for every member of the Association but this was subsequently crossed through.
