PRESENTATION TO A WARRAGUL VOLUNTEER.

FROM NEERIM RESIDENTS.

Private A. LANCASTER, who joined the second Victorian contingent as a member of the Warragul detachment V.M.R., was an old resident of the Neerim district, his relatives being amongst the earliest settlers of that locality. When it became known that he was included in the list of volunteers, some of the prominent residents of the township named organised a movement to present him with a suitable souvenir, as a mark of the esteem in which he was held throughout the district. The present took the form of a handsome gold locket, suitably inscribed, and the gift was handed to him by his brother (Mr H. Lancaster, of Neerim South) on the morning of the date on which the contingent sailed.
