PRESENTATION TO A BLACK WATCH VOLUNTEER.

Private George HERD, of the 42nd, Black Watch, was on Thursday evening entertained by a large company of friends in the Royal Oak. Mr John Adamson presided. On coming to the event of the evening, the health of their guest and the presentation of a gold albert and appendage, with inscription, he referred in appreciative terms to the record of the Volunteers and the services Private HERD had rendered. A brief reply, but one characteristic of the Volunteers, was given by Private HERD, who thanked them sincerely for these tokens. Other friends spoke, and a number of songs and toasts followed.
