PRESENTATIONS TO LOCAL VOLUNTEERS.

Yesterday evening the workmen in the fitters’ and smiths’ department of Kingston Shipbuilding Yard met to do honour to two of their number, Privates Joseph DALLAS and William CLARK, who are going out to South Africa. Lieutenant J.M. Hutcheson, E Company, presided. In name of the subscribers Mr W.B. Allan presented Private DALLAS with a gold albert and appendage and a purse of sovereigns, and Private CLARK with a tobacco pouch and tobacco and also a purse of sovereigns. In handing over the gifts Mr Allan made an appropriate speech, and both recipients briefly returned thanks.
