Returned Soldier. — Yesterday week a welcome home was extended in the Mechanics' Hall, Goorambat, to Quartermaster Sergeant ELLIS. Mr T.R. Sharp occupied the chair, and there was a very large attendance. The chairman, in a neat speech. welcomed Quartermaster Sergeant ELLIS back again, and congratulated him on the rank which he had obtained while on service. Mr W. Hall presented him with a gold medal, suitably inscribed, and a purse containing 13 sovs., which was duly acknowledged by the recipient in a short but graceful speech. During the evening songs and recitations were rendered by Messrs Wellwood, Bert Hall, T. Roscoe, Frank Saunders, Sharp, Cullen and McPherson, after which a dance was held, the proceedings finally breaking up at 3 o’clock.
