He was mentioned in Despatches [London Gazette, 29 July 1902]; awarded the Queen's Medal, and King's Medal with five clasps, and was created a Companion of the Distinguished Service Order [London Gazette, 31 October 1902]: "Charles Peevor Boileau Wood, Captain, Royal Scots. In recognition of services during the operations in South Africa". He was Major and Honorary Lieutenant Colonel, 3rd Battalion The Royal Scots. Lieutenant Colonel Wood contested the Wellington Division of Salop, 1910, as a Conservative.
