Pollok | John Frederick Pollok | | 2nd Lieutenant | He died at Bappisfontein, June 2nd, 1900, of wounds received in action the same day at Orange Grove. He was the 3rd son of John Pollok JP DL of Lismany, Galway, and of Ronachan, Ayrshire. He was born in September 1876, educated at Charterhouse, and entered the 9th Lancers from the 3rd Battalion South Wales Borderers, January 1899. 2nd Lieutenant Pollok served in Cape Colony and with his regiment as part of the Kimberley Relief Force, and afterwards at the relief of that town and the subsequent advance on Bloemfontein. His name was inscribed on the tablet in the War Memorial Cloister at Charterhouse.
