Medal plugged at 12h00 and re-suspendered.

Corporal Joseph Samuel Wasserzug, a 39-year-old Jewish member of the Pretoria Commando, was one of the 40 Boers taken prisoner at Roodeberg on 2 June 1901 (PoW No 20666). He served from 11 October 1899, seeing initial action at Biggarsberg and Laings Nek and subsequently in Northern Transvaal. He saw out the rest of the war on Bermuda.
