Original spelling Gerhard Angenius von Klüg.
Gerhard Angenius von Kloëg fought in the battle of Bronkhorstspruit as well as the battle of Majuba. He was born in Germany on 13 March 1855, with sources suggesting Göttingen, Germany, as his place of birth and emigrated to South Africa in 1872. He is credited as the Boer soldier that shot and killed General Pommeroy Colley. He von Klüg was captured in June 1902 at Potloodspruit and held as a prisoner of war, before being released and resuming residence in Pretoria. Records affirm his death on 15 January 1945 in Heidelberg, Gauteng, South Africa.
