ABO (Burger K. Tolman). City Coins August 2011.

Various aspects of Application Vorm “B” indicate that Klaas Tolman was a Dutch employee of the NZASM (Netherlands South African Railway Company). He joined the Carolina Commando from Waterval Boven (a major railway centre on the line to Komatipoort) in February 1900 and saw his first action at Spion Kop. He subsequently took part in all the engagements in Northern Natal and Eastern Transvaal where the Carolina Commando was present and laid down arms at Carolina in June 1902.

According to his address he was still a “railway man” when he applied for his ABO in 1923.
