ABO (Burg. A.D.J. Swart). City Coins November 2009

In his medal application he mentions “Mafeking stormed” as well as service under Comdt. Sarel Eloff. This confirms that Swart was one of the approximately 100 Burghers who managed to get back to the Boer lines after Comdt. Eloff’s failed attack to take Mafeking on 12 May 1900.
