Served: Fordsburg.

Good afternoon. Harvey Swanepoel is the father of the great grand father of my wife. I have a medal of his but it is a different medal that the medal shown on this page. On the one side of the medal it has an ox wagon, lion and soldier. On the opposite side it has a lion under a tree and possibly some sheep - not very clear.

The medal you have probably looks like this one Hennie.

the medal you have is the Anglo Boere Oorlogsmedalje. If you want to know where Harvey Swanepoel fought, and with which commando, Dewald Nel can provide you (at a reasonable charge) a copy of his Vorm B, the application he made for the medal. See en-gb.facebook.com/NELMedalResearch/
The Fordsburg (Johannesburg) men were in Natal on the Tugela front, so he was possibly around Colenso, Ladysmith, Spioenkop, Vaalkrans and Pietershoogte?
