ABO (Burger C.M. Snyman). City Coins June 2004.

Christiaan Snyman, a member of the Pretoria detachment of the elite Police unit, the ZARP’s mentioned service at Colesberg (January 1900) and Abrahams Kraal (Driefontein in the British literature) when applying for his medal. He was also captured at Pretoria on 9 August 1900 (See Lot CHL-5) and sent to Ceylon (PoW Number 11411).

City Coins notes that "It is strange that a number of the regular ZAR forces (Police and Artillery) were captured between 7 and 9 August 1900 (after the fall of Pretoria), but as these men were successful with their medal applications it seems as if there was nothing “shady” with the circumstances. Worthy of further research!!"
