ABO (Burger W Schutzler)
LVW

BidOrBuy February 2018

Wilhelm Schutzler was severely wounded on 10 March 1900 at the Battle of Abrahamskraal (Driefontein) by a fragment of a lyddite shell that tore away tissues of his left leg. He stayed on commando, but the wound became worse.

In June 1900 Genl de la Rey gave him permission to lay down arms on medical grounds. The Medal Advisory Board allowed the issue of the ABO medal even though Schutzler was not serving in the field or imprisoned in a PoW Camp on 31 May 1902.
