ABO (Burger J.H. Nel). City Coins March 2003.

Johannes Hendrik Nel served in the Zoutpansberg Commando, initially at Colenso and then at the various skirmishes at Colesberg early in Jan 1900. He was captured with his cousin of the same name at Meluspoort on 23 April 1901 and sent to India. One will probably never know whether he was PoW No 18955 (20 years old) or PoW No. 18956 (16 years old).
