ABO (Burger F.S.Ludik). City Coins August 2014

On 11 October 1899 Frans Ludik of the Klerksdorp Commando (Ward Onder Schoonspruit) was in action at Kraaipan where an armoured train was derailed in the first skirmish of the Boer War. He subsequently saw action on the Western Front (Tweerivieren, Koedoesberg and Paardeberg) and later in the Western Transvaal at Frederikstad, Hartebeestfontein, etc. He laid down arms under General Liebenberg at Klerksdorp in June 1902.

A prime example of a “Bittereinder”.
