ABO (Burg. FJ. Lotz ). City Coins August 2014

Frans Lotz saw action with the Wakkerstroom Commando. He took part in a number of well- documented actions: Colenso (15 December 1899), Night Attack at Belfast when the “Lady Roberts” gun was captured (29 December 1900), Spieshoek/Blood River Poort (17 September 1901) and Taleni/Fort Itala (26 September 1901).

He was taken prisoner at Langspruit on 29 December 1901 (PoW No 27162 where his surname is given as Lootz) and sent to St. Helena.
