ABO (Sjt. Mjr. C.J. Erasmus). City Coins August 2014
Although Carl Erasmus’ Vorm “B” puts him in the Pretoria Commando, his rank of Sergeant-Major (and not Burger) and the fact that the application was completed on his behalf and signed by Commandant J.P. de la C. Schroeder of the Z.A.R.P’s in his capacity as Commanding Officer, indicate that Erasmus was an N.C.O. of the Z.A.R.P., who was stationed in Pretoria before the war. After the early operations in Natal, he fought in the Battle of Dalmanutha and was probably a survivor of the Z.A.R.P’s famous “last stand”. He subsequently fought at Nooitgedacht.
