He served with the Johannesburg Voet Politie Commando. He served from October 1899 to May 1902. Handed over his weapon at Mislagofa Kraal onder Gen J.S. Kemp. He served with Commandant Van Dam, Genl Piet Joubert, General J.C. Kemp. Wounded in the left leg. Fouht at Ladysmith, Rietfontein, Abraamskraal, Boskop, Pretoria naby Donkerhoek, Nooitgedaght, Stompies and others.
