Is this offered as a single medal, I take it the India medal is absent?

Frank,

Yes, this is in the next DNW sale as a single item. No information accompanies the lot.

There are no service papers for him either.

The papers of Vernon Henry Imray are on FMP. The incorrect middle initial on his medal may have thrown up a no result. They're quite interesting too.

He was promoted rapidly. Enlisted 19/10/1887. Appointed lance corporal 31/7/1888. Promoted corporal 1/6/1889. Appointed lance sergeant 1/8/1890. Promoted sergeant 1/10/1890. Promoted colour sergeant 4/3/1895.

Then it all came crashing down. He was convicted by court martial of an unspecified offence and reduced to private 5/9/1897 and that's how he stayed until discharged at the termination of his first period of limited engagement 18/10/1900. He was invalided home due to enteric 11/5/1900.

That's quite a fall from grace but I'd only be interested if the IGS was with the QSA.

David

2808. Pte J.Greenhalgh 13/Hussars

I thought I would place this medal under the single clasp "Natal" section. A man that served in South Africa for 55 days only..
