We last saw PD Hulley 5 years ago when he was offered for sale at DNW. It hammered then for £1,400. Estimate today £1,200 :)

Certainly from my own experience, at least, the actual hammer price on the day in question is often rather different than any estimate shown in the relevant catalogue.

David
Colin Walker's Siege Register tells us that General Orders says Sgt. Molloy (sic), the senior survivor of his squadron led his troop gallantly after his officers had been killed (at Game Tree) and brought them safely out of the action. Siege slip 142 states Sgt. Malley was wounded in the arm and chest when a Boer tried to shoot Eloff as he surrendered to Col. Hore. He was twice severely reprimanded for drunkenness on duty. Born Ireland 1865, enlisted Prot. Regt 21/8/99, promoted Sgt. 2/9/99. On 11/7/01, enlisted as Lt. in MMR.
A pity Bonhams did not include some of the above in their description.
Best regards
IL.

It was PW Hulley whose medal was sold at DNW in October 2014.

There are 5 Hulley's on the Mafeking TG roll - wonder what the relationships are?
