* A RARE .577/450 SWINBURN-HENRY VOLUNTEER RIFLE SIGNED BLAKEMORE, serial no. Z3579. ... early 1870s, military specification with 32 1/2in. sighted barrel stamped 'HENRY'S RIFLING A&T', Birmingham proof-marks, tilting block action, left side of receiver marked 'J&R BLAKEMORE / LONDON / SWINBURN'S / PATENT' (rubbed), side-mounted cocking indicator with thumb-tab, full walnut stock, front barrel band with bayonet lug, sling swivels, modern sling, receiver and butt-plate with blinded pitting

Note by Rob D: These were purchased by the Govt of Natal in 1875. The Z prefix serial number may indicate issue to the Natal Native Contingent.
