Officially named to 4135 Pte. W. ROWLANDS. W. RIDING REGT

Prisoner of War – Sannahs Post 31 January, 1900; later released. Regimental rolls show that this combination of clasps single is unique to the regiment for the Boer War. Therefore, only one soldier, Pte. ROWLANDS, received this combination.

ROWLANDS is shown on the South African War Casualty Roll as missing at Sannahs Post 31 March with the words released. Research from Ancestry confirms he was part of the Mounted Infantry at Sannah s Post.
