QSA with Bel, MR, OFS, TR and SA01 clasps named to: 4292 Pte. J. B. Pierce, 9/Lcrs.
Pierce served in C Squadron and was wounded in action and taken PoW at Graspan on 25 November 1899.
He was one of 16 missing or PoW for the entire regiment for the Boer War.
Pierce Later joined the South African Constabulary as 2912 Corporal J B Pierce and served in E Division.
He died of Enteric Fever (Typhoid) at Petrusburg on 15 July 1901. He is interred in Petrusburg Old Cemetery.
