I stumbled across this photo album for sale online:
biblio.co.uk/book/photo-album-second-boer-war/d/1321026032

The album contains a few often seen images such as Spionkop dead etc and I now believe that there must have been quite a few commercially available images around at the time. I've included three which caught my eye. I don't know who the regiment is pictured in railway trucks, but it would be nice if someone recognises the image. The one I found particularly interesting is the grave of those who died during the Churchill train wreck on the 15th of November 1899. I haven't read a great deal about that incident, but there is a short article here which may be of interest.

I don’t know who the men in the trucks are, but it’s possibly in Durban (masts in background) and they are possibly cavalry ( characteristic low nape of the helmet)
The past is not dead. In fact, it's not even past.

I see what you mean about Durban Rob. I wonder if these are the same men on this book cover. Cavalry sent from India perhaps.

I was interested to see the photo of the grave, as I have never seen that image before.
