The Munster's were really great and they are in demand as far as collectors go, they did well in August 1914 and made a name for themselves.
WO97 is very interesting, not even fifteen years old and only four feet eight and a half inches tall, his service statement is well filled out with no time forfeited either, if you look at his history sheet, parts three to nine are crossed through with the word "Nil" a very brief look at WO100 in respect of part nine does suggest this to be correct.
However, given his age and his particular name, I would look at WO372 and WO363 too make quite sure, there are many possibles in the Irish Regiments.

Quite simply because none are applicable to Slattery, no certificates, no campaign service, so no wounding, no conduct and no medals.

Thanks for the info Frank. I see on his record 2 GC badges that's it, a pity really to serve 12 years and receive no medal I guess that's life. Thanks again for your help.

Had he been out on campaign with his regiments he would have received a medal, but, medals are not everything, duty and service were important too.
The Munster's were quite superb at Etreux in 1914, and yes, they all were entitled to the star and clasp, but, very few ever got to actually wear them! :(
