Simply because those were the clasps he earned whilst serving with his battalion, service on Ceylon was not campaign service, but, merely garrison duty.

Hi, I understand what you mean regarding this being a public forum and not being able to follow a thread with all the facts and I don't mind posting general details on a public forum but I don't wish to post specific names on any public forum. Most public forums have a private message facility for this reason which is why I used that facility also. I will enjoy using the forum in the future to find out generally about the Boer War and I am thankful for the help that I have received on the forum.
