He's buried in Uttoxeter Cemetery. I contacted the Regimental Museum of The Royal Welsh, which includes the South Wales Borderers, and found that Corporal Phillips had served in the Anglo-Boer War but had never applied for his service medal(s) afterwards. I never got the opportunity to check the local newspaper for any information on him after his death. Can anyone add anything?

Hello,
I'm assuming this is actually 6090 Private Webb Phillips from Uttoxeter, he was discharged in 1902 unfit for further service, WO97 confirms his rank as Private and also clearly shows entitlement to his QSA, nothing in WO100/181 to suggest it was not issued either, he would not need to apply.
Kind regards Frank

Hello

The service papers show his father as Charles and he was in 18 in 1899 (birth year ca. 1881), which matches details on the gravestone.

His QSA has been on the market in 2012 (eBay) and 2013 (Speedbid).
