Good afternoon, I was given the pictured medal riband "Last Night 03/01/2013" by my partner. they belonged to her Grandfather Stanley Carpenter. He had the QSA & KSA medals and was obviously awarded the MC after 1914 but little know about him. He might have had another first name but she dosnt know it. Early days but any ideas would be appreciated. Regards, John

Hello John.....

I have done a quick look in the London Gazzette and without a little more information I was unable to find a Stanly Carpenter......

There were over 200 pages to look through......

The ribbons must have been worn before 1918 as the WW1 ribbons are missing.....

Hello Mike, Thank you so much for all your help and advice, I had gone down the same route and found the same, I think we have to return to basics and start from the end so to speak. without his full name I think we are onto a longhall. I understand he spent some time in Egypt between the Boar War and WW1, once I get his Unit etc it should become easier, will keep you posted. Regards, John M

Hello John

Have you been through the MIC cards on Ancestry and also there maybe an officer's file in WO363 or WO374 in The National Archives catalogue.

Thank you everyone for looking and your help, it just shows how Family History can get clouded. It turns out the Stanley or Willie Arthur Stanley CARPENTER was only about 2 years old at the end or the Boar War, his parents having married in June 1874. I therefore suspect the medal cluster was his Fathers or other relation maybe not even called Carpenter. Regards, John M
