Good evening all , I'm looking at my grandads war record and it seems he was one of 110 men fron the 11th huzzars sent to fight in the boar war in 1902. Hie regiment number i believe wa 3606 . The record on Ancestry said he was injured, but I cannot find any other info.

Hello Alan and welcome.

3606 Frederick George Higgins is listed on the medal roll for the 8th Hussars with a note saying he served in the 11th Hussars. He received the Queen's Medal with clasps Cape Colony, Orange Free State, Transvaal, South Africa 1901 and South Africa 1902.

There is a short write-up on the 8th Hussars here: www.angloboerwar.com/unit-information/im...-royal-irish-hussars

He was severely wound (fall from horse), Heilbron, 31 July 1901.

He went on to serve in the Great War.

His service papers do exist.

Best wishes
David
