I contacted Dewald Nel and he provided the documents. His hourly fee for searching NZASM was too high for me though.

That's a shame - thanks anyway.

The deportation documents might be useful. Everhard's identification, which I trust, puts VK Jan van Brummelen with Maritz towards the end of the war, and his record shows he was not captured. So some time after June 1902 was he deported to Holland?
As regards the railway, it did not go to Ficksburg until 1907.
The past is not dead. In fact, it's not even past.

Thanks but as mentioned previously I am not able to download all documents from FamilySearch.org as they don't always allow downloads - I am not sure why, and many of the documents are high resolution and viewed across multiple pages so not even a screenshot can always adequately be captured.

The links to the Deportations documents I've already provided on this previous post on this forum - all it takes is a free FamilySearch account to view them. I'd rather not comment on here about details, dates of deportation etc because my understanding of those documents is subjective and I may be wrong about several things - it's best to see them for ones self directly from the source which often provides you with more context.
