I came across his obituary this morning. If he only moved from England to Canada in 1900, and then had three jobs before going out to South Africa, how much active service did he actually see?

....GALIANO ISLAND - Lancelot Good, a veteran of the Boer War, died in Shaughnessy Hospital, Vancouver, Sunday, at the age of 87. Mr. Good, who had been living at his Montague Harbor home with one of his sons, had been ill for about three months.
....Mr. Good was born in England and moved to Canada in 1900. Shortly after his arrival, he worked as secretary to the managing director of the Winnipeg Exposition. Later he was employed on a survey crew for the Crows Nest Railway and then went to a ranch on the Old Man River where he worked until he went to the Boer War.
....After his demobilization, Mr. Good worked in a large department store in Johannesburg. In 1907, he went to England to marry and later he and his wife Janet moved to a homestead 60 miles south-west of Saskatoon, Sask. They lived there until 1917 when they went to Vancouver.
....They retired to Galiano in 1947. Mrs. Good died in 1964.
....The funeral service was held Thursday at St. Margaret of Scotland Church, Galiano, Rev. Benjamin Fream officiating. Cremation followed.
Victoria Daily Colonist, Friday 7th February 1969

I found the birth registration, in Hampstead, of Lancelot Hamilton Good, in the second quarter of 1881. He's not named on Hampstead's roll of honour as having served.

Hi Berenice,
Having a quick glance on Ancestry, He did serve with the SAC with a Reg. No. 1865 and a rank of Trooper. The two rolls show that he received the Cape Colony and Orange Free State clasps with both the South Africa clasps 01 & 02 and in the remarks column it states that he was discharged 'unsuitable'.

Unfortunately there is no other information with regards to the length of time served other than assuming it was at least over the period of 1901 and 1902 as per his clasps.
