Anyone have anything on 613 Tpr. William Wilkie, South African Constabulary-Northern Transvaal? I suspect this man could be my great grandfather. The WO 100/272 indicates he was eligible for CC, OFS, Tvl & SA 1901 & 1902 clasps so presumably he served elsewhere with the SAC before going to the Northern Tvl.

I've not been able to find anything on this man so am unable to dismiss or comfirm him being my great grandfather. Any help with this would be most appreciated.

THe SA National Archives in Pretoria keeps the records of the SAC. They are often very detailed. It would be worth getting those for William Wilkie, if you have not already done so.

Thanks, Brett, I've not had a look at the SA National Archives yet. I've hopefully going to be doing an SA trip next year and will spend time at the National and the Natal Archives.

Best be warned Mark - the Natal Archives are housed temporarily elsewhere whilst renovations are on the go.

There is a lag time of anything up to 3 days from the ordering of files to viewing. Not sure when the job will be completed.
