Was that about the same year Dave, 1896?

Wonderful photo Dave, I grew from very young with horses and firearms. That moustache was very in fashion those years. I’ve started to know more about that period - having only known about these family photos for a year ) From the bit I have read about
their weaponary and uniforms went though a number
of transitions.

A similar theme occurred when I did my military service with the SADF in the SP Guard. In 1986 we changed from the green wool tunic/ trouser and shako with ostrich feather to the khaki etc.
