William Joseph Coleman, Irish Soldier 3 years 4 months ago #73950

Dear All,
I'm trying to build a picture to my heritage and specifically around my great grandfather - William Joseph Coleman. The information we have on him is half decent in that we know he was Irish and a soldier. We have my grandmother's baptism records. To connect to his birth place, baptism and birth records, we are missing a date of birth. WIthout a date of birth, there are too many possibilities.

Any guidance in this regard would be appreciated.

I had a look for William Colemans born in Ireland between 1845 and 1880, and there were 82 (although 4 of those were Colman), in 44 different registration districts.

Thank you for the response. I have access to this info, the challenge is creating a link between the births in Ireland and the Boer war as that will narrow down the search. The other issue I have without the date of birth is that my great grandfather could have been in South Africa from the 1st Boer war.
