Hi,

In one of my ancestors Mafikeng refugee camp record it says he joined "Settagoli N. Scouts" on 2 May 1902.

Can anyone give me more information on this Unit?

This was either Keeleys Scouts or better known as Mosita Squadron DMT.

Could you please post his name and the record you refer to

He was born Jacobus Wilhelm(Willem) Meintjes born on 13 May 1873, in Zeerust. Looks like his first wife died in 1901 and one of his daughters in Dec 1901 in the Mafikeng Camp. He remarried in Jan 1902 in the Camp. And then according to the link the Scouts Unit.

Settagoli seems to be a small location aprox 35 miles from Mafeking, extract from publication
"Sarah left the village in the dark, in a cart with six mules, accompanied by her German maid Metelka and a young man of color, bound for Settagoli (today Setlagole) 74 km southwest of Mafeking, on the main road to Kimberley."

'N. Scouts' was National Scouts, a unit made of surrendered Boers
