Can't believe it's 4 months since I joined the forum & have contributed precisely nothing - got sidetracked! Hope I've uploaded these two photos properly (and under the correct topic) showing my great-uncle, 1655 Fergus Villiers EWART (Coldstream Gds) whose clasps included Modder Rover (please see initial post). Presumably he was among those pinned down all day in the sun under Boer fire. I'd welcome any comments on what seems a rather informal adaptation of uniform - in the pic of the group of three, at least. Fergus Ewart is centre. I think I saw a similar photo when going through some previous posts when I joined the forum. Two of his brothers served in the same conflict, grandfather John W Ewart being awarded the DCM.

Thank you Mike! They looked a bit tiny once posted but came out all right when I clicked on them. They're now more attention catching ... ! (I should have said one of them was obviously taken in Gibraltar, not S Africa, where the battalion was stationed during 1899).
