We are looking for information on Walter Paxton (b: 1877 in Oxford) who we believe fought with the 12th Lancers. After the Boer War he moved to Canada, signed up for WW1 and fought in France.

My "Cavalry" CD shows "4351 Pte. Paxton, W of 12L"; Wounded at Lindley 18/5/00 and discharged Medically unfit. Entitled to clasps Cape Colony and Orange Free State on his QSA.
This could well be your man. I suggest you might check with one of the commercial sites for any surviving personal papers and look for any actual link.
Good luck with your quest.
Regards
IL.
