Hi, Hoping someone can assist me with some geology that I am assisting my grandfather with who is trying to research his great grandfather Frederick Partridge. AS the story was passed down in my family Frederick left his 3 boys and wife Eliza Emma to fight in the Boer war and never returned. There has been some confusion if he died or just did not come back. I was always told his wife went over there to find him with no luck. I know he was born sometime between 1871-1872, and based on a marriage certificate was married in 1891. I have found one F Partridge, but how do I confirm it is the same one if I cannot find a birthdate, next of kin or any other information? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Jessie
There were several men with the name F Partridge who served in the Boer War.
There was a JF Partridge who died in 1902 and who served in the Tarkastad Town Guard but when I found his Death Notice, it says he was 26 when he died in 1902 which doesn't fit with your man and also he was not married.
I will chat further with you off line.
