A Butler 2nd Battalion Rifle Brigade

Albert Butler 2nd Battalion Rifle Brigade

All I have is. He re-enlisted in August 1914 and passed as fit, but after a spell in hospital he was invalided out of the army in October 1914 He was from Belper in Derbyshire

There look to be two sets of service papers for him on FindMyPast. Have you had a look at these:

They might identify which A Butler served during the Boer War.

7976 Rifleman A Butler served in the 4th Battalion, Rifle Brigade and earned CC OFS and SA02.

3371 Private A Butler served in the 2nd Battalion, Rifle Brigade and earned the KSA (2). From the QSA roll, this ma's forename is Albert so it looks like 7976 A Butler is your man.

There are no Boer War service papers for his as he re-enlisted in the Great War.
