Here's George Allsop of Keighley who I think volunteered in 1899 (his name is also spelled as Allsopp in the newspaper).

I think this might be him:

Andy,

I think it unlikely that he joined the Rand Rifles as these were a local South African unit.

More likely is 6156 Pte G Allsopp, 1st Vol Service Company of the West Riding Regiment (the same as D Durkin). He earned the SA01 clasp on WO100/186p197. A note suggests he also served in the Scottish Horse with number 681.

His QSA is listed under the name Allsop on WO100/186p190. His entitlement is to CC, OFS and Tr. A note says he joined the Scottish Horse on 20 Apr 1901.

The Scottish Horse rolls list 681 Trooper Geo Allsop with clasps CC, OFS & Tr (WO100/268p7). Discharged 9 Oct 1901 in Capetown. His is also listed on the Sc Horse Supplementary Roll for SA01 (WO100/268p105). His medal appears to have been issued 24 April 1903.

Allsopp's number, 6156, is 4 different to Durkin's so they joined together?

The Rand Rifles were in effect the Johannesburg town guard and they certainly did not wear the British Armies Home Service full dress tunic!
