Hi Frank,

I just hope they are safe where they are, as its open access.
This is also from Colenso.

Hey, I'm getting clever, I zoomed in on the plaque to make it legible!

regards, Iain

Wonderful pictures, I have to say that I prefer to see monuments left alone, actually, where they were placed originally.
However, I understand that on occasion, they must be moved.

As you can see on the last pic, the marble plaque had been smashed. Perhaps this was the reason for the move?

This is interesting, also on Clouston hill:

When I say Clouston Hill, there is also a field below the hill will many memorial stones.

Iain

I do not remember seeing the 'granite' memorial to Captain Hughes, so thank you for showing it. It tells a great "what if ......" story.

Brett,

Captain Hughes memorial is on the hill to the left at the far end.

As you say, "what if.." maybe what if the army cared to use it!

Hello Iain,
One would certainly hope so, no metal there to steal.
