I bought this pair at last Sundays medal fair at Wakefield.

6134 Pte.F.W.Roberts Thorneycroft Mounted Infantry & Trooper F.W.Roberts Natal Mounted Rifles
QSA & 1906 Rebellion medal

Frank served with the following South African units:-
Utrecht Mounted Police No.84 WO100/261
Natal Mounted Rifles No.424 WO100/260 this roll shows his entitlement another supplementary roll WO100/260 shows entitlement to SA1901 which is missing from the medal.
Thorneycroft's Mounted Infantry No.6134 WO100/227 nice to see Colonel Thorneycroft's signature on the medal roll.
His entitlement on his QSA was Laings Nek,Transvaal,Relief of Ladysmith OFS & Tugela Heights.
His rebellion medal has a confirmed 1906 clasp.

Thank you for any comments

Paul :)

Hello Paul,
Very nice indeed and not easy to get here either, there is a fellow in Manchester who collects Thorneycroft's boys to the point of fanaticism, moreover, he certainly has the best collection that I am aware of today.
So whilst the QSA is very nice on it's own, to actually have the pair is superb, surviving papers are in WO126/142-144 at Kew, a really lovely pair of medals, you have been lucky I think.

Hi Paul

It is indeed a very good pair of medals and the sort that could start an obsession for medals with a connection to the Colony of Natal!

Regards
Brett
