Hello Frank,

And thank you for your comments and advice.
Yes I think he would be worthy of further investigation.
I picked up a few more medals on Sunday that I will try to post tomorrow.

Paul :)

I am wondering if you ever solved the mystery of these medals. Interested in where you found them? My Great grandfather was Arthur Wells born in Harbledown, Kent. He reportedly served in the Boer war but my dad is hazy on detail.... A rumour of an incident with a train and bridge which was an important point to some battle and a rumour of a fishing fleet and bankruptcy while in South Africa. His children were born in South Africa and it appears he may have been in South Africa before the start of the war if birthdate 1897 of a great Aunt is correct. His Wife Ivy travelled with the children to Australia in Dec 1907 by the Militades but not sure when he arrived. Several Arthur Wells seem to appear in the records.
Cheers
Tracey
