I have now acquired a QSA (clasps OFS/SA1902/TVL) to 7542 Pte. A.C. Meyer of the above outfit. Meyer's full names (very German in origin) were Adolf Carl Theobald Meyer and he was born in Dikiya, Ceylon where he was a Planter.

I have his papers from FMP which has filled in a couple of gaps but I would like to know if there are any Sri Lankan records or Archives that one could tap into in order to learn more about the chap.

Regards

Rory

Rory,

Good question. I don't know if any records are available in Sri Lanka.

Does anyone else know?

Best wishes

I believe there has been a breakthrough with this medal...much to Rory's delight and it has a local flavour, but I will leave it up to him to explain.

Thanks Brian

Yes indeed - thanks to a tip off from Glen over at the BMF I was able to extract papers from the Free State Archives iro MEYER.

He served two stints with the SAC at Ladybrand from 1902 until 1907!!

Wonderful stuff and right up my street having a prediliction for the Constabulary chaps.

I'll post his ever developing story soon.

Rory

There is more, I found another link and Glen has filled in the pieces....this has worked out to be an interesting search across two Forums.
