Herewith a shot or two of the medal.

As you can see it has been cleaned - a practise which I abhor - but everyone to his own!

Regards

Rory

Very nice medal, indeed. The subject of cleaning must always a vexed one. I think we have all seen silver medals which had been cleaned at some time with Brasso - perhaps by the recipient. Back in the early 70's (IL collection 1) it was the fashion to Silver Dip and polish. I recall saying to one of the then local dealers that I liked the tarnished hue and his comment was "tarnish is dirt and I don't collect dirt!".
In the past, yes I have occasionally Silver Dipped. No, I would not do it now. In time your BMI QSA will attain some sort of patina. Even if it does not, it remains a very nice medal.
Thanks for showing it.

Rory,

Your man only appears to have served in the BMI so there is no opportunity to see his forename in the rolls. The the BMI entries only show his initial.

Hopefully the attestation paper will reveal all.

Best wishes
David
